In doing so, SYM conducts, develops and deploys frontier Complex System Sciences and Technologies, on Earth and in Space, with fundamental dynamic understanding and overarching principles in mind.

By advancing, bridging and articulating multiple disciplines into a coherent set with our proprietary methods and technologies, SYM further strengthens the theoretical understanding, methodological robustness, technological prowness and practical ability to analyze, model, empower, protect and nurture our planet and with that, fundamentally contributes towards a healthy and prosperous synergistic coevolution among nature and society.

The scientific backbone of SYM is leveraged by a world-class core team led by Chair Prof. Dr. Rui A. P. Perdigão, rooted on the renowned Meteoceanics Institute for Complex System Science and associated flagships including, but not limited to, QITES (Quantum Information Technologies in the Earth Sciences), ESDI (Earth System Dynamic Intelligence), and NORA Climate (North Atlantic Climate Centre).
